This is an experienced position to work in the Machinist Trade. Machinists primarily set-up and operate machine shop equipment including (but not limited to): lathes, radial drills, grinders, presses, punch presses, cut-off saws, milling machines, HBM, VTL, rolls, sheers, brakes, and burning machines. Applicants hired into this position shall generally be able to operate most equipment with minimal training based on prior experience, including CNC operated equipment. Machinists may be assigned any of the M04 Trade tasks.
The pay range for this position ranges from $20.14/hr - $22.59/hr.
This is a mid-level experience position (Grades 4-6) to work in the Machinist Trade. Machinists primarily set-up and operate machine shop equipment including (but not limited to): lathes, radial drills, grinders, presses, punch presses, cut-off saws, milling machines, rolls, sheers, and brakes; some machines are CNC operated. Machinists may be assigned any of the M04 Trade tasks.

This is an entry level position (grades 1-3) to work in the Machinist Trade. Applicants may be assigned any M04 Trade tasks, but will initially be assigned basic machine operations including (but not limited to): saws, drills, drill presses, grinders, de-burring etc., or to assist more experienced Machinists operating more complex equipment.
The pay range for this position ranges from $23.82/hr - $26.28/hr.
This is an experienced position to work in the Tinsmith Trade. Applicants will be assigned any T04 trade function, including (but not limited to):
- Fabrication of items made from sheet metal, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum such as hull outfit foundations, lockers, bunks, shelving, ventilation, guards, tables, counter tops, racks, etc, using fabrication sketches and drawings.
- Installing items on units or on ships including (but not limited to): shelving, ventilation, guards tables, racks and countertops, layout and install hull outfit foundations, curtain plate and deck shoe, joiner bulkheads etc., using blue prints.
- Fabricating and installing main engine and generator exhaust and intakes using fabrication sketches and drawings.
The pay range for this position ranges from $20.14/hr - $22.59/hr.

This is an experienced position to work in the Shipfitting Trade. Applicants will be assigned any S40 trade function, including (but not limited to):
• Fabrication of complex items such as entire deck sections, grating assemblies, critical foundations, etc., using fabrication sketches and drawings.
• Installing items on units or on ships including (but not limited to): machinery components and shafting equipment, ordinance foundations, exterior fittings and railing, etc. using blue prints.
• Fabricating and installing complex assemblies such as shell plating assemblies onto mocks and ensuring completion of accurate assemblies in accordance with drawings and Accuracy Control plans.
• Ability to work independently and solve daily installation/layout challenges with a minimal of assistance.
The pay range for this position ranges from $21.68/hr - $23.62/hr
This is a mid-level experience position to work in the Shipfitting Trade. Applicants will be assigned any S40 trade function with limited assistance from a more experienced S40, including (but not limited to):
• Fabrication of items made from sheet metal, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum such as hull outfit foundations, tanks, small assemblies, and bulkhead assemblies using sketches and drawings.
• Installing items on units or on ships including (but not limited to): set up of mock stations, layout and installation of shell/deck stringers, layout and installation of back-up structure, layout and install hull outfit foundations using assembly sketches and blue prints.
• Fabricating and installing major equipment foundations using fabrication sketches and drawings.

Additionally, this entry level position would be involved in many types of prep work and grinding in way of part installation in all areas.

- Provide armed Security for all BIW facilities.
- Follow all company and department operating procedures.
- Write incident reports and maintain logs.
- Must be able to man fixed posts, waterborne assignments and conduct walking checks of facilities.
- Supervise 2nd shift Surveyors to provide dimensional control support to all manufacturing areas.
- Manage combat system/survey alignment activities with Department 09 and Combat System Engineers.
- Work with first shift supervision to achieve division goals.
- Review and interpret Accuracy Control and Surveyor data.
- Provide direction to Manufacturing on resolution of data anomalies.
- Interface with manufacturing on out of tolerance conditions and/or misalignments.
- Support Accuracy Control activities on 2nd shift including:
- Audit the completion and execution of Accuracy Control checks in assembly areas and report findings.
- Assist manufacturing with structural issues and the performance of Accuracy Control checks.
- Perform physical audits of structure during the assembly process.
- Responsible to manage daily work schedules and tasks of direct reports; monitor completion of work items to cost and schedule; track and approve time work and charges for direct reports
- Plan, organize and coordinate work for mechanics
- Ensure safe work conditions & implementation of safety
- Ensure construction schedule adherence and cost account adherence
- Ensure first time quality of all work and status MACPAC work orders/coordinate operational schedule; maintain and communicate with other supervisors

These positions are for all shifts.
Perform marine design activities that include but are not limited to 3D modeling & visualization
Resolution of design related problems encountered during ship construction that may involve occasional ship-checking
Development of ship alteration drawings for repair/alteration of ships in the fleet
Electronic drafting of installation & fabrication drawings
Extraction of computer aided manufacturing data
- Ship construction surveyors are responsible for the layout of plate, unit, and ship construction control lines, installation and alignments of major equipment and the monitoring of the ship in its various stages of construction to ensure construction and fit-up tolerances are met.
- Surveyors work in all areas of the shipyard from initial plate layout through ship delivery.
- The surveyors work with all trades, levels of the organization and with Accuracy Control Engineers to provide required data to support the construction process.
