Bath Iron Works is seeking a candidate to join the Surveying team. In this role as a surveyor, you’ll work in all areas of the shipyard from initial plate layout through ship delivery. The surveyors works with all levels of the organization and with Accuracy Control Engineers to provide required data to support the construction process. Ship construction surveyors are responsible for the layout of plate, unit, and ship construction control lines, installation and alignments of major equipment and the monitoring of the ship in its various stages of construction to ensure construction and fit-up tolerances are met.
This position is for 3rd Shift.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate work of mechanics on crew.
- Ensure quality and timeliness of work is completed within budgeted and scheduled parameters.
- Assign and status MACPAC work orders/coordinate operational schedule.
- Support and administer labor contract and ensure safety regulations.
- Communicate with other supervisors to help achieve and maintain smooth work flow and high degree of productivity.
- Use electronic Time Accounting System (WFM) to maintain employees' time and overtime daily.

This is a mid-level experience position to work in the Outside Machinist Trade. Outside machinists install ships equipment which includes general machinery, main machinery, weapons systems, remote operating gear etc. which involves layout, tacking, grinding, drilling, reaming, spot facing, bolting, torqueing, testing etc. (but not limited to).
The pay range for this position ranges from $25.73hr - $26.78/hr.
This is an entry level position to work in the Outside Machinist Trade. Applicants may be assigned any O04 Trade tasks, but will initially be assigned basic operations including (but not limited to) tacking, layout, drilling, equipment installations, or to assist more experienced Outside Machinists in complex job assignments.
Welding position, starting at $28.88/hr
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Perform welding in all positions (laying down, kneeling, standing, overhead)
- Must be comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights over 6 feet
- Be able to carry/lift and setup welding equipment ranging from 20-66lbs

This is an entry level position to work as a General Laborer.
