Job Description

Part of General Dynamics Marine Systems, Bath Iron Works is a full service shipyard specializing in the design, building and support of complex surface combatants for the U.S. Navy. Our summer internship program provides students with meaningful work experiences in their program of study and an increased awareness of our work environment.

 

Bath Iron Works is located on the coast of Maine in the city of Bath, 2.5 hours north of Boston, MA and 45 minutes from Maine's largest city, Portland. We are actively recruiting candidates pursuing degrees in the following areas:

  • Business Administration/Management

 At BIW, The Planning department provides products and services to the customer on time and on budget that are error-free and produced in the most effective and efficient means. Our mission is to improve communication, productivity, and BIW's ability to meet our Project Momentum goals. Some of the key services that we provide are:

  • Responses to Work Order Feedback
  • Bill Change Requests (BCRs)
  • FEPA Incorporation
  • Production Control Staffing
  • Work Order Releasing
  • Deck Plate Planner Questions
  • Responses to Flow Disruptions
  • QPS and MAR Documentation
  • Weekly Metrics Package
  • New Work Order Creation
  • E02 Compartment Inspection
  • Pipe Segment Quality Control
  • Resource Plan Updates
  • Product Forecasts

The Summer internship program begins Monday, May 17, 2027 and ends on Friday, August 6, 2027.  Pay range for this position is $18/hr. - $29/hr.  

Required/Preferred Education/Training

  • Must currently be enrolled in a BS or MS Academic Program with an Engineering or related discipline.
  • Must be available to begin the Internship on Monday, May 17, 2027.

Required/Preferred Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to contribute as a team member.
  • General computer skills and a knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to organize, plan and execute projects.
  • Research skills and attention to detail.
