The Classified Area Escort position is responsible for providing strict security and access control within designated classified or sensitive areas. This role involves safeguarding confidential information, sensitive materials, or high-value assets and ensuring that only authorized personnel are granted access. The Classified Area Escorts play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of classified information and materials. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Classified Area Escort ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.
This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance and start employment within 45 days of the interim security clearance being granted. All offers are conditional until interim security clearance is granted by DCSA (Defense Counter Intelligence Security Agency).
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:
- Enforce strict access control measures for classified areas or a designated perimeter around classified Government Furnished Material (GFM). This involves verifying the security clearance and appropriate access credentials of individuals seeking entry or access.
- Maintain constant vigilance over the classified areas, monitoring for any suspicious activities or security breaches.
- Ensure strict adherence to security policies, regulations, and clearance requirements set forth by the organization or government agencies.
- Sign and adhere to confidentiality agreements, acknowledging the sensitivity of the information and materials being protected.
Project Execution:
- Accompany authorized personnel, visitors, or contractors while they are inside classified areas to ensure compliance with security protocols and prevent unauthorized activities.
- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and transportation of classified documents, data, or assets in accordance with security guidelines and procedures.
Training and Development:
- Stay up-to-date with access control protocols, classified information handling procedures, and attend training sessions to enhance awareness and knowledge.
- Actively complete all required security education and awareness training through the CDSE Security Awareness Hub, ensuring full compliance with annual mandatory training requirements.
Team Collaboration and Communication:
- Maintain clear and secure communications with individuals under escort, security personnel, and relevant authorities to relay critical information.
- Work collaboratively with the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Assistant FSO (AFSO) team, and other internal departments to support security programs, address vulnerabilities, and support overall program requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Maintain accurate records of entry and exit into classified areas, documenting all activities and incidents for security and audit purposes.
- Proactively identify and report potential security vulnerabilities or inefficiencies in current access control procedures, recommending enhancements and participating in the refinement of security protocols to optimize overall program effectiveness.
