Job Description

The Planning Yard organization is looking for a strong multifunction leader to support all Planning Yard (PY) contracts. Operating within the Business Operating System (BOS), the Project Manager’s primary objectives will be to support growth of the Planning Yard business, identify process improvements while driving lean projects to completion, and develop/utilize contracts that will lead to future improvements for our customer.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Project Management:

  • Generate and evaluate growth projects through comprehensive project management.
  • Work with a team and/or independently to vet growth projects with customer(s) and stakeholders for approval and implementation.
  • Lead proposals, define project timelines, secure appropriate funding, and lead growth projects to holistic completion.
  • Manage budgets, develop funding plans and associated processes while routinely providing updates to leadership.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in and/or lead various special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Drive lean projects and associated A3’s to conclusive completion.
  • Maintain budget spend plans, estimate at complete forecasts and resource management metrics.
  • Work with various organizations to coordinate and integrate schedules and budget phasing.
  • Provide project analysis on cost and schedule.
  • Develop and submit monthly variance narratives as needed.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Actively build and foster strategic collaboration with government/shipyard/subcontractor points of contact to ensure projects are successively being progressed through tasking, funding and execution.
  • Able to strategically and professionally deliver content and presentations to all levels within the company and Navy.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships within the PY organization teams.
  • A workload exceeding 40 hours per week and occasional work outside of normal business hours is expected in this role.
  • Frequent travel with durations up to 1 week or longer expected.

 Training and Development:

  • Champion BOS principles and productivity enhancements across the organization.
  • Drive rapid resolution of emergent internal and external customer issues.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in business or technical field, and/or 5 years' experience in Program Management.

Required/Preferred Experience

  • Experience in Program Management, Contract Proposals, Budgets and Finance required
  • Proven and demonstrated experience with Program Controls for several contracts required.
  • Understanding of Government contracts preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated expertise and effectiveness with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail and a proven ability to take initiative when required

Ability to obtain a Security Clearance is required.
