Job Description

The Supervisor of Inventory is responsible for the overall health of the Facilities Main Yard Inventory management system and team at Bath Iron Works. They will lead the inventory team in the development and maintenance of standard processes and procedures, provide leadership on the resolution of issues and support development of training documentation and metrics to implement and control those processes. They will support the inventory team on all shifts to ensure consistency of practice, and a uniform response to customer needs. The Supervisor of Inventory will also support special requests for production by researching and ordering special materials. This position is focused on meeting internal/external customer demands with high expectations to maintain inventory levels sufficient to ensure the customer(s) receive what is needed when it is needed.

 

Additionally, the Supervisor of Inventory manages Bath Iron Works Respirator Maintenance team.  They will lead the crew to ensure the rigorous standardized cleaning and handling processes are abided by to ensure sanitary respirators are handed out on the deck plates.  This area of the business experiences a high throughput with a very small margin for error. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Safety Leadership:

  • Ensure Safety is the top priority in everything we do.
  • Interpretation and verification of OSHA/ANSI/NIOSH and other standards.

Project Execution:

  • Manage the Maintenance Inventory Stockroom to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are sustained.
  • Validating successful operation of the inventory management system.
  • Tracking & Reporting on system wide Material and Inventory Availability.
  • Heavy focus on Inventory management continuous improvement.

 

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Required to support Weekend Duty on Rotation (Estimate 2 weekends per year).
  • Ability to work effectively between vendors and customers.
  • Strong customer service & communication skills.
  • Processing special orders & working with customers to ensure they have what they need, when it is needed.
  • Support and administer labor contract.
  • Strong motivator and team builder.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Demonstrated ability facilitating problem resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to work with enterprise computer & inventory systems.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s/Technical Degree in Business Management or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Education and/or experience in inventory process improvement & supply chain.

Required/Preferred Experience

  • Strong background in process and project management.
  • Experience facilitating process improvement.
  • Analytics, Data & KPI generation experience.
  • Trades Experience.
  • Understanding of our buying and contracting process.
  • Experience working with maintenance organizations.
  • Experience with interpretation and verification of OSHA/ANSI and other standards.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience.
  • Strong motivator and team builder.
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to be flexible.
  • Basic knowledge of Vehicles and material handling equipment.
  • Basic respirator knowledge.
