Job Description

 

This position reports directly to the Facility Security Officer. The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) is responsible for BIW’s Personal Security Clearance Program. This position will also be assigned as a Key Management Infrastructure (KMI)/COMSEC alternate custodian.

 

This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance if you do not already have one. You must be a US Citizen for consideration, and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.  For more information regarding the security clearance process, please visit Investigations & Clearance Process (dcsa.mil)

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Safety Leadership:

  • Ensure daily tasks are conducted in a safe manner.

Project Execution:

  • Administer personnel security clearance actions, including initiation, tracking, and processing via DISS and NBIS.
  • Conduct fingerprint scanning using the SWFT system.
  • Initiate and review DD254s.
  • Participate in security self-assessments and DCSA reviews.
  • Provide review and coordination of security reporting (foreign national contact/outside activities/personal foreign travel/ID badge requests) for personnel.

Training and Development:

  • Conduct onboarding, initial briefings, annual refreshers, and debriefings for cleared
  • Conduct Security Program briefings and debriefings.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work with customers and security personnel to resolve issues and support classified contracts.
  • Assist the FSO and assume the FSO responsibilities in the FSO’s absence.
  • Support investigations of security incidents and help implement corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure adherence to marking, handling, controlling, removing, transporting, sanitizing, reusing, and destroying media and equipment containing controlled and/or classified information.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience in related fields required.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ certification is preferred.

Required/Preferred Experience

  • Must be able to receive and maintain a final TOP SECRET clearance.
  • Prior experience in Industrial Security and the protection of controlled and classified information is preferred.
  • Experience in prime/subcontractor security support and drafting of DD254s is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of compliance and guidance using the National Industrial Security Program Operations Manual (NISPOM), STIG, and DCSA Assessment & Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM) is preferred.is preferred.
  • Experience with DISS, NISS, NBIS, eMASS, and SIMS systems is preferred.
  • Experience in establishing and managing Secret Internet Protocol Router Networks (SIPRnet) is preferred.
  • KMI/COMSEC experience and KMI/COMSEC Certification is preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain KMI/COMSEC Certification.
  • Experience with project or program management is preferred.
  • Experience in a leadership role or management experience is preferred.
