Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for running a multi-disciplined crew made up of mechanical, construction, piping and electrical employees. Candidate will oversee preventative maintenance on production equipment and building infrastructure/systems.
  • Candidate needs strong background in mechanical and electrical field while working closely with Department Manager to ensure daily and long-term projects are carried out. Candidate will maintain a high level of credibility with the customer, peers, and mechanics.

    Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Completing assignments within budget constraints and scheduled objectives.
  • Management of Day-to-Day Crew operations and personnel interactions.
  • Being the face of facilities and the first line of response on third shift.
  • Coordinating and facilitating resolution in accordance with the union agreement.
  • The candidate may be responsible for all Maintenance Stockroom, and Respirator room functions.  This includes ensuring all inventory management, tool crib and respirator room procedures are followed to provide the highest level of customer service to our customers.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

    Required:

  • High School diploma or GED.

     Preferred:

  • Graduate BIW Apprentice or Associates Degree in a Mechanical field.

Required/Preferred Experience

    Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with production and operations to support operations while successfully maintaining the plant and equipment effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of crane maintenance.
  • Experience in maintenance of complex machine shop equipment to include; lathes, grinders, milling machines, burning machines, presses, brakes, and benders as well as experience with CNC equipment.
  • Basic understanding of inventory management principals.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams doing plant & preventative maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement cost reduction initiatives.

Preferred:

  • Computer proficiency w/ maintenance management system software (ex. Maximo), Time accounting & Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 10 Years of plant maintenance experience.
  • Experience and at least basic understanding of plant piping & electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of rolling stock equipment, and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Fabrication background.
  • Basic understanding of respirator components.
  • Experience in using ATICTS Tool Management Software.
