Job Description

• The primary function of this position is to drive the implementation of process improvements by utilizing industry best practices, lean methodology, and operational excellence. For this and all items listed below, leading teams and coaching company personnel is paramount in proper job execution.
• Apply process mapping/value stream mapping to identify and eliminate waste and non-value added activities in Operations and Operations Support processes.
• Actively lead multi-functional and cross departmental teams in problem solving efforts to reduce variation, improve customer satisfaction, and improve financial return. Stakeholders must continue to maintain active ownership of processes.
• Study current shipbuilding processes and identify opportunities to eliminate waste, improve productivity, quality, costs, and schedule duration.
• Analyze & develop business kpi’s (key performance indicators), metrics and data to ensure sustainment of process improvements, process discipline & results.
• Create standard work procedures and abnormal flow processes.
• Educate and develop key stakeholders and champions in the use of Lean and OpEx methodologies.
• Lead the training and implementation of new tools, technology, and innovation to improve shipbuilding processes.
• Develop business cases and return on investments (ROI’s) for proposed projects.
• Support implementation programs.
• Develop and maintain communication tools and processes to promote organizational change, growth, and culture.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required/Preferred Experience

• For level II, 2-3 years’ experience in process improvement, Lean Six Sigma, or OpEx in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• For level III, 5 years’ experience in process improvement, Lean Six Sigma, or OpEx in a manufacturing environment required.
• Strong analytical skills including ability to develop and implement solutions to technical issues required.
• Ability to organize, plan, and execute medium to complex projects.
• Strong project management skills, including facilitation of teams.
• Strong computer knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, & Access).
• Good organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.

Unique/Additional Requirements:
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or Operational Excellence Certification preferred for these positions, or equivalent training.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact, influence, and establish a good rapport with all levels of employees and customers.
• Positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment.
• Physical dexterity to bend and reach, climbing ladders and transiting confined, congested spaces.
