Job Description

  • Develop conceptual designs controls systems, incorporating modeling and simulation validation; evaluate the feasibility of such designs based upon requirements determined by project teams and the customer
  • Gather specification data and organize for evaluation and assessment
  • Develop/maintain assigned diagrams, calculations, and/or purchase specifications
  • Systems engineering/system integration tasks including requirements analyses, requirements decomposition, developing and evaluating operational requirements, developing software requirements, and specification development
  • Participate on tasks and/or projects involving multidiscipline efforts, subcontractors, and budget and schedule responsibility
  • Interface with Navy and other customers, Construction Trades, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Design in resolving technical issues and developing appropriate correspondence
  • Provide technical leadership for all assigned electrical/electronic systems and related tasks
  • Develop functional diagrams for lighting, power, and control systems
  • Work with CAD and database systems
  • Specify equipment requirements to manufacturers
  • Work with customers to define requirements and demonstrate performance through tracking metrics
  • Integrate equipment into shipboard design
  • Model and simulate designs, analyses, and calculations in applications
  • A broad knowledge of and experience with a variety of computer systems, networking, and technologies is desirable, including network communication and protocols and data collection
  • Detailed review of vendor developed software models and simulations as it relates to contracted unit operation and hardware. Support subsequent integration and test activities.
  • Complete technical reports and conduct verbal presentations
  • Work at the concept level, preliminary design level, and detailed design level
  • Enact change through the use of appropriate change vehicles
  • Lead projects toward completion; providing routine status reports for internal and external review, and monitoring contract performance.
  • Support manufacturing, commissioning, testing, and sea trials efforts as needed


Required/Preferred Education/Training

  • Engineering position - BS in Electrical or Electrical Computer Engineering required
  • Technician posiiton - Graduate Apprentice (Design or Production) or applicable associates or requisite experince

Required/Preferred Experience

  • Engineer/Technician I 0-1 years of electrical/electrical computer experince preferred
  • Engineer/Technician II 1-3 years of electrical/electrical computer experince preferred
  • Engineer/Technician III 3-5 years of electrical/electrical computer experince preferred
