  • Job Description

    • Act as Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for significant Machinery and Auxiliary System/Ship Alterations (ShipAlts)
    • Assemble Government Furnished Information (GFI) into packages suitable for use by Design in Ship Change Installation Drawing (SID) development
    • Work with various Navy customers and other contractors in the development of GFI and in the resolution of GFI issues as they develop
    • Brief ship check teams to ensure all applicable guidance is followed and accompany the Design team on selected ship checks
    • Provide technical support for SID development, for engineering issues associated with assigned ShipAlts
    • Write/review Ship Change Documents (SCD's)for all assigned ShipAlts
    • Support Design in the resolution of waterfront engineering issues that may arise during ShipAlt installation
    • Develop ROM estimates for emergent Machinery and Auxiliary Systems design and engineering work
    • Participate in and/or lead Integrated Product Teams (IPT's) in early development of ShipAlts
    • Participate in and/or lead off-site meetings and other events on occasion
    • Lead special projects as assigned

    Required/Preferred Education/Training

    • BS in Engineering required; Mechanical or Marine Engineering preferred

    Required/Preferred Experience

    -For Engineer I: 0-2 years’ experience preferred
    -For Engineer II: 1 years minimum experience required
    -For Engineer III: 3 years minimum experience required

     

    • Familiarity with General Dynamics LCS 2 Variant or Lockheed Martin LCS 1 Variant systems preferred
    • Experience in a shipyard or industrial environment preferred
    • Familiarity with ship construction and overhaul specifications preferred
    • Strong Project Management/Engineering skills required
    • Occasional business travel required
    • Must have the flexibility to work in a fast paced environment under the pressure of changing and often conflicting priorities
    • Ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous projects required
    • Strong research skills and attention to detail required
    • Self-motivation, strong work ethic and ability to work independently required
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with varying personalities required
    • Competence in MS Office products and general PC skills required
    • Strong oral and written communication skills required
