Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of all Modernization and Corrective Maintenance (CM) work performed by the LCS Planning Yard design team . This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

• Oversight and management of Ship Alteration (ShipAlt) Installation Drawing (SID) development, including cost and schedule adherence and reporting
• Oversight and management of Corrective Maintenance Work Specification development
• Approval and/or development of Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for tasked work
• Oversight and management of modernization design ship checks
• Development and presentation of performance metrics at Weekly Engineering and Design White Boards
• Responsible for fostering an environment of continuous process improvement in the Design organization
• Oversight and management of design quality, training, and personnel development
• Direct supervision of the LCS Design Supervisor and the LCS Design Project Engineer

Required/Preferred Education/Training

• BS Degree in Engineering field required
• Strong knowledge of LCS Ship Class preferred
• Strong knowledge of multiple design disciplines
• Strong knowledge of design scheduling, budgeting, and process
• Familiarity with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

Required/Preferred Experience

• 10 years of experience in the construction, modernization, and repair of US Navy or Commercial ships preferred
• Previous supervisory experience preferred
• Familiarity with ShipAlt Installation Drawing (SID) development process preferred
• Experience with design development in AutoCAD
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Access, Excel, and Project skills preferred
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
• Must enjoy a dynamic, high churn, rapid response environment
• Proven team player
