Design Supervisor - Responsible for the supervision of a fast paced multi-discipline design team generating 2D CAD design detailing the modification and modernization of DDG 51 Class ships during the Post Shakedown Availability (PSA) window. Team is also responsible for the on-site liaison support for the duration of the install availability.
o Ensures design tasks are completed to established schedule, budget and quality parameters.
o Maintains and reports completion statuses of all assigned design tasks.
o Reports design task cost, schedule and quality progress at various weekly meetings.
o Monitors cost, schedule and quality metrics to identify employee development opportunities.
o Develops ROM and GAF estimates.
o Promotes Continuous Process Improvement within the design team.
o Participates in process evaluations and discussions to continually improve design and departmental methodologies.
o Develops employee performance evaluations.
o Processes and verifies employee time accounting records.
o Administers the requirements of the BMDA labor contract.
BS in a technical related field with proven leadership experience or 5 years equivalent work experience
Excellent computer skills required.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required.
o AutoCAD experience preferred.
o LEAN SIX Sigma training preferred.
o Working experience with Earned Value Management preferred.
o Proven ability to foster a constructive and motivated work environment required.
o DDG 51 class detail design development experience preferred.
o Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written) at all levels of the company and the customer.
o Excellent organizational and planning skills required.
o Familiarity with ship specifications as related to design requirements preferred.
o Working knowledge of the BMDA collective bargaining agreement preferred.
