Job Description

• Calculate weights and centers of gravity manually from Functional and Detail Design Drawings, and automatically by CATIA weight extraction from detailed design models for all design disciplines: Structure, Piping, Hull Outfit, Ventilation, Electrical, and Machinery
• Support Naval Architects during ship inclining experiments
• Calculate unit weights at all stages of construction in support of the lifting and handling
• Develop and submit contractual weight reports for DDG 51 Class
• Make sound technical decisions/recommendations based on analysis
• Additional tasks may include: Mil-tolerance weight work for structural shapes, plating and piping systems, vendor furnished weight information verification, and scale weighing of ship units and equipment to record actual weight

Required/Preferred Education/Training

• High school diploma/GED required; graduate apprentice or technical associate’s degree preferred

Required/Preferred Experience

• Minimum of 3 years practical shipbuilding and/or marine design experience required
• Ability to work shipboard and in a production environment required
• Excellent verbal, written communication and customer relation skills required
• Experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects as a multi-discipline team lead or member required
• Familiarity with CATIA required
• Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred
• Familiarity with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
• Level and salary will be commensurate with experience
