Job Description

Manage fabrication operations inclusive of Machinery Operations, Pipe Assembly, Hull Outfit Assembly, and HVACf. To provide technical resource and asset management across Fabrication. Facilitate movement of resources to balance and optimize quality, cost, and schedule.

 

Responsibilities -

-Responsible for safety, quality, schedule and cost performance of East Brunswick Manufacturing Facility
-Manage fabrication of pipe, vent, electrical, and hull outfit components for the shipyard
-Work with Trade Superintendents to manage manning levels and skill sets to accomplish objectives
-Responsible for deployment of manning within facility
-Work with planning and materials to ensure smooth flow of information and material to shop floor
-Work with labor relations and union representatives to comply with the collective bargaining agreement
- Ensure policies, procedures, and records are followed and maintained;
- Provides and implements solution to resource plan requirements through personnel moves, loans, transfer, hiring, attrition of machinist classification;
- Determine individual personnel moves in accordance with staffing plans that optimize mechanic skills and qualifications to assignments;
- Identify and resolve skill inadequacies through training, assignment, hiring, and other movements of resources;
- Support technical development of supervisors and mechanics;

 

Required/Preferred Education/Training

-High School/ GED required, graduate BIW Apprentice preferred

-Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business or related area preferred

Required/Preferred Experience

-Minimum 10 years experience in a fabrication environment including 5 years in a leadership position
-Shipyard experience preferred but not required
-Strong leadership skills
-Very good knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems preferred
-Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
-Experience with shop floor and operational process design preferred
-Willingness to develop and implement new operational processes
- A solid foundation in labor contract administration preferred;
- Excellent administrative skills: effective interpersonal skills, demonstrated skills in the areas of verbal and written communication, problem solving/decision making, conflict resolution and organizational skills;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required;
