Job Description

Reports to the Planning Yard Design Manager
Responsible for the co-supervision of a large multi-discipline design team
Interfaces daily with internal and external customers
Ensures design tasks are completed to established schedule, cost, and quality parameters
Inputs weekly work order status
Reports design task cost, schedule, and quality progress at various weekly meetings
Monitors cost, schedule, and quality metrics to identify employee development opportunities
Performs root cause analysis and associated corrective action plans for identified design issues
Develops employee performance evaluations
Develops ROM and GAF design estimates
Processes and verifies employee time accounting records
Administers the BMDA labor contract

Required/Preferred Education/Training

BS in a technical field with 5 years job related experience or 8 years equivalent work experience required.
Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
Proficient in navigating within a Microsoft Access database required.
AutoCAD training/experience preferred.
LEAN SIX Sigma training preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written) at all levels of the company and customers required.
Excellent organizational and planning skills required.
Proven leadership skills required.
Proven ability to foster a constructive and motivated work environment based on teaming required.
Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, rapid response technical environment required.
Working experience with Earned Value Management required.
Familiar with ship specifications as related to design requirements preferred.
Working knowledge of the BMDA collective bargaining agreement preferred.
Occasional weekend overtime supervision coverage will be required.
Occasional travel may be required
